BP Whiting Refinery Receives Top Volunteer Award at United Way State Conference

BP-Whiting-Refinery-Receives-Top-Volunteer-Award-at-United-Way-State-Conference-2017BP Whiting Refinery was named “Volunteer of the Year” by Lake Area United Way at the 2017 United Way and Funds Volunteer of the Year Awards Banquet held April 13, 2017 at the Indianapolis Marriott North, Indianapolis, IN.

The award was given in recognition of BP’s extraordinary volunteer effort during the 2016-2017 workplace campaign. A 15-person committee made up of BP employees volunteered a combined 100 hours over four weeks. The committee hosted fundraising events, created an internal communication plan, and coordinated 70 in-person presentations by Lake Area United Way.

Volunteers were selected to participate by refinery manager, Don Porter, and represented various departments throughout the refinery. “I continue to be amazed at the generosity of the people that work at the BP Whiting refinery. Our employees’ commitment to the community and the tireless work of the Lake Area United Way, makes a world of difference to those in need and helps to build a stronger community,” said Don Porter, BP Whiting refinery manager.

Accepting the award on behalf of BP Whiting Refinery were Tom Keilman, Director of Government Affairs, Dotch Phillips, Projects Controller/Manager, Project Services, Terry Morrow, Compliance Assurance Specialist and Doug Becraft, Instrumentation & Electrical Engineering Superintendent.

Also attending the conference from Lake Area United Way were Lisa Daugherty, President & CEO, Angie Williams, Vice President of Resource Development and Community Impact, Brandi Adams, Relationship Manager, Erin Meisner, Relationship Manager, and Evelyn Harris, Resource Development Associate.
