It’s FORE the Kids, but also FORE you!

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana has reimagined its annual golf outing held later this month, offering attendees a different golf experience but the same chance to support kids across the region. Instead of participating in a traditional event, golfers can purchase a Golf in a Box sponsorship, which includes items like a sleeve of Titleist Pro V1 golf balls, craft beer, golf wearable, and a certificate to golf at a local premier course, including Briar Ridge Country Club, Sand Creek Country Club and Valparaiso Country Club.

Boys & Girls Clubs Vice President of Philanthropy Alison Martin said that the Golf in a Box concept is a win-win for local golfers who are looking to support the organization safely but still have a golf experience they enjoy.

“The golf outing is traditionally a huge event for us,” Martin said. “We wanted to find a way to simulate the experience while keeping everyone safe.”

Helping Boys & Girls Clubs reimagine the event includes major sponsors like Lakeside Wealth Management has joined CAPTRUST as the presenting sponsor, El Oso Construction as the Golf in a Box sponsor, Indiana Beverage as the Beverage Sponsor, ArcelorMittal Foundation as the Youth Course Program Sponsor, CORE Construction as the Portage Youth Designed Course Sponsor; and other sponsors such as EAT Enterprises, Von Tobel’s and Rothschild Agency.

Martin also said the reimagined concept allows Club members to be more involved in the event and showcase STEM skills they’ve learned at Clubs. Club members from Boys & Girls Clubs in Portage, Chesterton and Gary will construct three miniature golf courses that participants can play, while Club members in Cedar Lake, South Haven, Valparaiso, Hammond, East Chicago and Lake Station will design virtual courses. On Monday, July 27, Golf in a Box will tee off and the youth-designed golf course competition will commence. Golfers and other supporters of the Clubs will have the chance to vote for their favorite Club course, and the winning Clubs will win a prize. That same day, golf participants will be able to pick up their Golf in a Box and then schedule golf play at their leisure with a foursome of their choice.

Sponsors can also purchase a Youth Golf in a Box for their children or for a Club member. The Youth Golf in a Box will include such items as a certificate to play mini golf, golf balls, a golf shirt and snacks.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana’s Golf in a Box outing will be held over two weeks beginning on Monday, July 27 at noon in order to provide golf sponsors with maximum visibility at nine different Club locations and on digital platforms.
