Bishop Noll Institute’s Environmental Science students had the opportunity to canoe around Wolf Lake during a special field trip in September.
The Canoe Mobile came as part of Wilderness Inquiry (wildernessinquiry.org), a nonprofit organization that connects people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to the natural world through shared outdoor experiences. Adventures are facilitated close to home and across the globe.
The experience is free and students learned canoe safety and paddling techniques before taking off. They also met with National Park Service rangers for a discussion about the natural surroundings and job opportunities with the service.
"I'm glad that Wilderness Inquiry made this opportunity available to my students,” said Noll’s AP Environmental Science teacher, Rosalie Schmidt. “I hope the students look back on the experience with fondness and continue to enjoy the outdoors. We try to participate every year, I hope to take next year's class to Wolf Lake, too."
