Bishop Noll’s Marching Warriors Have Started the School Year Off Right

Bishop-Noll-InstituteA week after hurricane Harvey hit Texas, they spearheaded efforts and joined with other BNI organizations including National Honor Society and Student Council to collect a truckload of clothing and water, which have been delivered to the hurricane victims.

Their stewardship doesn’t stop there. Next month, the band help the next generation of musicians learn firsthand what it means and how it feels to perform as a Marching Warrior.

Band Grade School Night will take place during halftime of the Bishop Noll-Lake Station football game Oct. 13 at Bishop Noll Institute, 1519 Hoffman St. This special event is open to all elementary school band students in fifth through eighth grade.

Those who have a student interested in taking part in the halftime show can contact band director Mr. Rocco Carioto at rcarioto@bishopnoll.org.

The Bishop Noll band, who last year performed at the Liberty Bowl and enjoyed an award streak, kicked off the summer by receiving the Patriotic Award Trophy for its performance in the Highland Fourth of July parade. The musicians spent two weeks of their summer learning this year’s band competition show, which features the music of Disney. Its premiere performance in its entirety will take place Sept. 30 at Crown Point High School.

The band marched in the inaugural Hammond Mexican Independence Day Parade on Sept. 16 and on Oct. 9 will make its sixth consecutive parade appearance in the Chicago Columbus Day Parade down State Street, which will be televised on ABC 7.
