Bishop Noll Band Students Continue Reward Streak

Bishop-Noll-InstituteFollowing their award-winning trip to the Liberty Bowl in December, Bishop Noll’s Marching Warriors continue their winning streak this month.

Noll’s nine soloists all received gold medal ratings at the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) state wide solo and ensemble competition held earlier this month at Crown Point High School.

The sweep was the first in recent history of the revived band. Soloists included Mary Lowry, of Whiting; Kalyna Wozny-Ramos, of Schererville; Maria Krilich, of Whiting; Andres Miranda, of Hammond; Javier Miranda, of Hammond; Monica Magallanes, of Hammond; Heather Hernandez, of Hammond; Taylor Reid, of Hammond; and Valentina Pagan, of East Chicago.

More than 600 students from various region schools participated.

Also this month, the Bishop Noll Jazz band performed and competed at South Suburban College Jazz Festival and received a gold star rating. Four students received outstanding soloists awards including Emily Rojas, of Whiting; Valentina Pagan; Taylor Reid; and Andres Miranda.

“I am so proud of these students because they truly show that hard work, leadership and dedication to a common goal equals success in anything you want to accomplish in life,” said Rocco Carioto, Bishop Noll band director.
