Bill Durnell has been named to the Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission, announced Mayor Jon Costas. “Bill has proven leadership experience, keen analytical skills and a longstanding commitment to the Valparaiso community. We look forward to his financial expertise on this important commission,” said Mayor Costas.
Durnell is a certified public accountant and serves as senior director of investment analysis for GATX Corporation. He and his wife, Carrie, own Roots Market Café in Valparaiso. Durnell also serves on the board for the Central Neighborhood Association, has served on the board for ValpoNext and is a former candidate for mayor of Valparaiso. He is a graduate of Purdue University. He and Carrie live in downtown Valparaiso and have one son, Henry.
The Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission plans and develops projects aimed at redevelopment throughout the city of Valparaiso, utilizing tax increment funds (TIF) and grant funding for approved projects. For more information on Valparaiso’s RDC, visit Valpo.us. \
