When the phone rings at Overhead Door of Northwest Indiana, Sales and Marketing Coordinator, Ben Newland, sees something much bigger than just a call.
“I see it as an opportunity,” Newland says. “Not an opportunity just to make a sale but to talk to someone and get to know them.”
Newland has always been a seeker of opportunities and challenges, something he learned at his alma mater: Purdue Calumet.
“If there’s one thing I would like people to know about me, it’s that I am a proud graduate of Purdue Calumet,” says Newland. “Everyone always says I am doing this or that in Lafayette, but I was doing all the same things up here at Purdue Cal. I loved it there because I felt like it was open. I could just walk into a room and talk to someone.”
And it’s that positive attitude to take everything he can out of any situation that has helped Ben along the way at Overhead Door. He encourages new adventures, new challenges, and the opportunities to get out and meet people; which is why he appreciates his position at Overhead Door and the freedom he gets to do what it takes to get the job done right.
“I wear a lot of different hats here,” adds Newland. “Sometimes we have a lot of different obstacles going on. But everyone here is just a phone call away and we work hard to get it fixed.”
But in the end, Newland says, what he loves about working at Overhead Door of NWI is that they all work hard for their customers and they get to have a lot of fun doing it.
“That’s why I am here,” Newland says. “I am having fun. I’m a musician at heart and I get to be creative here with new ideas and campaigns. And it’s just, a lot of fun to do that.”
And last we checked here at Ideas In Motion Media, there’s no law against working hard and having fun at the same time.
Stop into Overhead Door of NWI sometime and take the time to get to know Ben. Throw in some quotes from the hit TV series The Office and the conversation will start flowing naturally. But most of all, take the time to experience the difference that working with people who love what they do really makes.
