“Becky’s New Car” Opening at 4th Street Theater in Chesterton on Nov. 8

1-Don-Steph-LauraThe Fourth Street Theater will present Steven Dietz’s play “Becky’s New Car” from Nov. 8 through Nov. 24.

This insightful comedy involves Becky Foster, who is caught in middle age, middle management, and in a middling marriage -- with no prospects for change on the horizon. Then one night a socially inept and grief-struck millionaire stumbles into the car dealership where Becky works. Becky is offered nothing short of a new life...and the audience is offered the chance to ride shotgun in a way that most plays wouldn't dare. “Becky’s New Car” is a thoroughly original comedy with serious overtones, a devious and delightful romp down the road not taken.

“I like this show because it is a real life happening before our eyes,” Linda Pauli, the director, said. The situations in the show are ones that people can identify with and understand. We know these people, we are these people.”

Pauli added that “there is a great deal of humor in the show and Becky treats the audience like they are her best friends. She talks to them and includes them in her life.

Underneath the humor of “Becky’s New Car”, lies the fact that sometimes life goes on and we are not really fully a part of it and we want something more. The something more is what happens for Becky.

Directed by Pauli, the cast features; Stephanie Rice, Matt Stinnett, Nate O’Brien, Donald Beck, Amy O’Brien, Jerry Golvidis and Laura Blythe.
