Becknell Industrial Breaks Ground on 159,813 Square Foot Facility in Hobart

bucknell-industrialOfficials from the City of Hobart joined executives from Becknell Industrial, an industrial business park owner/developer to officially break ground on a 159,813 square foot distribution/manufacturing speculative building of precast concrete construction at NorthWind Crossings. This is the first of its kind for Northwest Indiana in 2015 with delivery of the building slated for first quarter of 2016.

“The strength of Indiana’s economy continues to garner national attention thanks to the ongoing commitment from companies like Becknell Industrial,” said Victor Smith, Indiana Secretary of Commerce. “Today’s groundbreaking marks the company’s ninth building at the 200-acre park, which serves as a tremendous resource as we work to attract new business to Hobart, Lake County and the Hoosier State. We are proud to have created a low-cost, low-tax business climate that creates fiscal predictability and allows companies like Becknell to expand and create opportunity for future economic development.”

The new structure will be located immediately adjacent to the full interchange of Interstate 65 and 61st Avenue in Hobart, Indiana, in Becknell’s master-planned Class A business park in Lake County, Indiana. It will feature 28 foot clear heights with 14 truck level loading positions, expandable to 26 as well as storage positions for up to 36 trailers. In addition, the building will offer 41’ x 41’ column spacing with expanded 55’ loading bays.

“Hobart’s reputation continues to draw development and businesses, and we appreciate the commitment Becknell Industrial has made to our city,” said Mayor Brian Snedecor, City of Hobart. “With our focus on fostering a friendly business climate, Hobart is a community that companies can rely on to help provide the highest return on their investment and offer the best opportunity for economic growth.

Becknell Industrial will be working with Scott Duerkop, Vice President of JLL (formerly Jones Lang LaSalle), a financial and professional services firm specializing in commercial real estate services and investment management, on marketing the new building and available space within the complex.

“We have been fortunate as a company to have significant growth opportunity and based on this growth, we began exploring the necessity of adding additional buildings based on our master plan,” said Matt Hubert, Assistant Vice President of Becknell. “The evolution of NorthWind Crossings continues today. In Hobart, we can offer a quality product and location. The community and the state of Indiana provide a business environment where we and our clients can continue to grow and prosper.” For more information, contact Karen Lauerman, President & CEO of the Lake County IN Economic Alliance (LCEA) at klauerman@lcea.us or 219-730-9152.
