Expectant mothers and fathers enjoyed fun and games, along with expert information at the Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star Baby Shower on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Stardust Event Center in Michigan City.
The event highlighted the services offered by local exhibitors who provided information on car seat safety, prenatal care, breastfeeding and other resources available to families in the area. About 100 guests were treated to a free breakfast buffet, along with the opportunity to win prizes through raffles and games.
The event also introduced families to the Franciscan Health Family Birth Center Michigan City, which is part of the new hospital that opened in January. The facility features contemporary birthing suites, private postpartum suites, board-certified physicians, lactation consultants and neonatal nurse practitioners on-site.
The Family Birth Center also offers a variety of education classes and programs. Nurse Lori Williams, RN, said they’re seeing increasing demand for their Best Start Breastfeeding class. Other classes include childbirth and infant care. For more information and registration, call (800) 931-3322.
