The Towle Theater, Hammond’s premiere theater destination, is seeking strong singers & actors for two upcoming non-equity productions. Their original annual production of A Fabulous 50’s Christmas and the musical Adrift in Macao book and lyrics by Christopher Durang with music by Peter Melnick.
The Towle will be holding three rounds of auditions, one in Chicago on Saturday, September 7 from 1pm – 5pm at Theater Wit, 1229 Belmont Ave in Chicago; and two nights of local auditions at the Towle Theater, 5205 Hohman Avenue, Hammond, IN on Sunday, September 8 and Monday, September 9 at 7pm. All roles in the shows will be paid.
A Fabulous 50’s Christmas pays homage to the Perry Como and Andy Williams' Christmas specials of the 1950’s & 60’s complete with original vocal arrangements and commercials from the era.
Adrift in Macao is a loving parody of film noir movies. Everyone that comes to Macao is waiting for something, and though none of them know exactly what that is, they hang around to find out. The characters include your film noir standards, like Laureena, the curvaceous blonde, who luckily bumps into Rick Shaw, the cynical surf and turf casino owner her first night in town. And don't forget about Mitch, the American who has just been framed for murder by the mysterious villain McGuffin.
If you are auditioning for A Fabulous 50’s Christmas -please prepare 32 bars of a Standard Christmas Song. Provide sheet music in the correct key. No acapella or taped accompaniment. You may be asked to read a commercial script.
If you are auditioning for Adrift in Macao- please prepare 32 bars of a Broadway Song not from the show. Provide sheet music in the correct key. No acapella or taped accompaniment. You may be asked to sing from the score or read from the script.
