Art Exhibit at the Crown Point Library – Acrylic Retrospective Review by Albert Horvat

crown-point-libraryAn artist reception for Albert Horvat will be held on Wednesday, April 23 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Crown Point Library. His exhibit “Acrylic Retrospective Review” runs through the end of April. Light refreshments will be served.

Albert J. Horvat is a retired real estate agent and professional artist. He is the father of Karen Cox and grandfather of Lindsay Cox, both Crown Point High School art teachers. What sets Albert apart from most professional artists is his unique story. Fifteen years ago Albert suffered from a stroke. He had to learn how to regain the use of his hands and refine his hand-eye coordination. All of these paintings on display are artworks that Albert has completed since his stroke.

Albert paints in acrylics and his artwork stands out from others because of his ability to pull detail from his research. He normally spends many hours researching his subjects before he puts a brushstroke on the canvas and his paintings are photo-realistic in nature. He spends many hours completing a painting and it is not uncommon for Albert to spend 200 plus hours on a painting.
