The Art Barn School of Art is delighted to announce our 26th Annual Juried Art Exhibition from May 18 through June 27, 2019. We are proud to continue the longstanding tradition and dream of our late founder Jan Sullivan. The purpose of the exhibition is to promote the creation and recognition of original quality 2-dimensional works of art. The exhibition attracted 202 entries from 85 aspiring and established artists from Northern Indiana, Chicago and its suburbs. There are 90 pieces selected for the show ranging from painting, drawing, collage, printmaking and mixed media.
The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception on May 18 from 6:00 to 8:00pm with an awards presentation at 7:00pm. Meet and greet with the artists and enjoy refreshments.
Celebrated artist and long-time faculty member of Indiana University South Bend, Alan Larkin, served as juror this year. He brought an expert eye to this year’s exhibition, and helped Art Barn insure the highest standards and integrity in the jury process.
Art Barn will award numerous purchase and merit prizes totaling $5,700. A purchase award is when a donor pledges to purchase a piece of artwork from the exhibition at a certain dollar value. Merit awards are cash awards or gift certificates awarded to artists. Art Barn thanks the many individuals and businesses who contributed and helped us to exceed our 2019 fundraising goal.
