The public is asked to donate at Versiti blood drives in April at Franciscan Health Crown Point and in Valparaiso and at an American Red Cross Blood Drive at Franciscan Health Fitness Centers Chesterton.
The blood drive at Franciscan Health Crown Point is scheduled from 8AM to 7PM on Wednesday, April 13. The location is Suite C and D in the Marion Education Center at the hospital, 1201 S. Main St. Franciscan Health also invites donors to a District 1 Trauma Committee blood drive from 2:30 to 7PM on Wednesday, April 20, at the MAAC Training Center, 4203 Montdale Park Drive, Valparaiso.
Donors at these Versiti blood drives will be entered for a chance to win a $500 e-gift card from Airbnb. Donors must bring photo identification and masks are required. Donors should also eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water before donating. Appointments are encouraged and can be scheduled by going online at versiti.org/IL or by calling 1-800-7TO-Give (1-800-786-4483) and choosing your preferred time. Walk-ins are also welcome as the schedule and social distancing allow.
The American Red Cross blood drive at Franciscan Health Fitness Centers Chesterton, 810 Michael Drive, is from 9AM to 3PM on Tuesday, April 19. For a limited time, the American Red Cross has resumed testing all blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies. Test results will be available one to two weeks after donation in the Red Cross Blood Donor app or donor portal at RedCrossBlood.org.
