Apply Now for Help from Your Community

rebuilding-together-logoIf you or someone you know has been struggling financially and the house has suffered, get in contact with Rebuilding Together Duneland (RTD) to see if we can work together.

It’s not always easy to ask for help, and oftentimes the people who need assistance most are the least willing to seek it. Our mission is to “Improve the homes and lives of financially-burdened homeowners in the Duneland Community,” and that could be anyone who has fallen on hard times and needs a hand. That’s what neighbors are for; that’s what RTD is for.

Since 1997, RTD has brought together hundreds of volunteers and skilled contractors interested in helping their neighbors and improving their neighborhoods. We’ve reinvested donations totaling over $1.17 million dollars into 194 home and community projects across the Duneland area. All of that effort culminates on National Rebuilding Day, when all the projects we’ve planned—everything from yard work to total roof replacement—are carried out at once.

This year, National Rebuilding Day is on April 25th, 2015. While that date may seem far away, there’s a lot that has to happen behind the scenes. That’s why RTD must start planning as soon as possible in order for our volunteers and skilled workers to do the most good.

Answering a few qualifying questions is all it takes to get started. The deadline for homeowner applications is January 15th, 2015. Applications are available at the Duneland Chamber of Commerce, the Duneland Resale Shop, Hopkins Ace Hardware, the Town of Chesterton Building Department and Westchester Public Library. You can also download an application from www.rtduneland.org, complete it and mail it to P.O. Box 644, Chesterton, IN 46304. If you don’t have access to a computer, give us a call. All your information will be kept strictly confidential. For more information, please call 219-926-3233.
