As a full-service, commercial real estate brokerage and property management firm, Latitude Commercial is involved with the sale and management of all kinds of properties: industrial, medical, retail, restaurants, and flex. Office space in particular makes up a large portion of the business, and at the center of that work is Director of Office Group Antony Miocic.
On the surface, Miocic’s goals are simple – sell and lease office space and help Latitude’s clients find the property that best suits their needs. Actually accomplishing those goals, however, is not as simple. In one day, he might be showing properties, making phone calls, coordinating marketing, and handling all the other miscellaneous tasks that make sure Latitude’s properties are on display.
“I really love the freedom of it, being responsible for making my own day,” Miocic said. “You get huge satisfaction from getting deals done and building relationships. I get to make a lot of people happy by finding them a building, and we’re representing all kinds of people: buyers, tenants, landlords, and sellers.”
Because office space is such a broad category, Miocic gets to help a huge variety of interesting people expand their businesses.
“There’s so many mom-and-pop shops,” Miocic said. “We’re also working with attorneys, accountants, doctors, and even social service providers.”
The last group is particularly exciting for Miocic, who had worked in social services, mostly for the Department of Child Services (DCS) in various capacities, prior to starting his career at Latitude Commercial.
“When you work in a field like DCS, you really have to manage your own time and track everything. It translated to my work here and how I organize everything; it’s very structured,” Miocic said. “And, since I came from that field, I know about their needs and about what works for them and what doesn’t.”
Real estate was an entirely new field for him at the start. Much of Miocic’s time during his early days at Latitude were spent in the classroom, studying to earn his real estate license.
“For the first month or so, I was spending all morning at real estate class,” Miocic said. “They had me studying videos, shadowing people, and learning not just how things are done at the office, but everything about an entirely new career. Things like what takes place in a closing or what takes place in a lease signing, stuff like that was new to me.”
Latitude Commercial has seen tremendous growth since Miocic joined the team back in 2016, and he is excited to be part of a team with so much potential.
“This is the absolute best place I’ve worked,” Miocic said. “I don’t say that to brag or anything like that, it’s just the truth. I’ve been here for five years now, and everything flows so smoothly and everyone is so helpful. Aaron McDermott, our co-founder and president, and the rest of the management team are great coaches. They’re always effective at analyzing what’ll grow the business.”
In his off hours, Miocic still finds time to get involved in social services – spending time helping out at Porter County PACT, which stands for Prisoner and Community Together and is a pioneering organization that provides community-based solutions for criminal justice.
“It’s kind of a mix of a job and a hobby,” Miocic said. “I facilitate some groups for them on Thursday nights and the weekends sometimes.”
