Andrean High School Quiz Bowl Wins Conference Tournament

Andrean-High-School-Quiz-Bowl-Wins-Conference-Tournament_01The Andrean High School varsity and junior varsity Quiz Bowl teams captured the Duneland Academic Conference title on Feb. 20. The competition, featuring 10 teams, took place at Chesterton High School.

Andrean High School defeated Michigan City 64-23 in the Quarterfinals, then went on to defeat Portage 65-18 in the Semifinals. The 59ers completed the trifecta with a win over host Chesterton High School 53-31. Both varsity and JV teams finished as regular season champs.

Paul Maicher won the all-star competition against the top representative from each of the 10 schools participating.

On March 17, the varsity team will return to the state competition. This is the third year-in-a-row Andrean has competed at state.

Andrean-High-School-Quiz-Bowl-Wins-Conference-Tournament_02The JV team defeated Michigan City Marquette and LaPorte en route to a very close win over Valparaiso High School, 36-33, in the finals.
