Dr. Stephen Koveck is the latest dentist to join Advanced Dental Concepts, and he brings a patient-centered focus to those in his care. Koveck, a graduate from the Indiana University School of Dentistry and a Northwest Indiana native, joined the staff at Advanced Dental Concepts at the Chesterton office in January. He always knew he wanted to pursue a career in healthcare and was drawn to dentistry by the unique relationship it allows him to build with patients.
“Dentistry intrigued me because you’re able to develop a lifelong relationship with your patients and the community you serve,” he said. “It was important to me to become a Northwest Indiana dentist and serve the community in which I was raised.”
Those strong relationships help Koveck fulfill his main philosophy when working with patients – everyone deserves individualized care.
“No two mouths are the same, just like no two people are the same,” he said. “My job as a dentist is to evaluate each patient and make sure we can reach their healthcare goals together.”
When he joined Advanced Dental Concepts, Koveck loved that everyone shared his views on the importance of patient-focused, family-friendly dentistry.
“Dr. Danny Hayes, the founder and owner, really stresses building that patient relationship,” Koveck said. “Everyone here believes in providing high-quality care and treating every patient like family.”
Koveck is skilled in all aspects of general dentistry and strives to stay current on the newest techniques and technologies.
“Being involved in organized dentistry at the national, state, and local levels has allowed me to exceed the number of required continuing education requirements each year,” he said.
Koveck knows that dentistry often seems complicated or intimidating to many patients, so he puts as much care into oral health education.
“It’s a collaborative effort to make sure each patient understands how important their dental care is,” Koveck said. “There was never really a light bulb moment for me; it’s always been about making a difference in people’s lives. I love what I do,” he said.
With each positive patient experience, Koveck is reminded of why he chose dentistry.
“People always ask, ‘Would you still go back and do all of that school?’ Yes, I absolutely would.”
