AmeriPlex at the Crossroads spurs economic development in Northwest Indiana

A stellar example of innovation, growth, and opportunity in Northwest Indiana is AmeriPlex at the Crossroads in Merrillville.

Located at I-65 and Broadway, this premier 386-acre, master-planned, mixed-use business park features state-of-the-art telecommunication technology and numerous amenities, aimed at serving the community and innovating for the future. AmeriPlex at the Crossroads is a joint venture project involving Holladay Properties, Purdue Research Foundation, and the Town of Merrillville. It is an icon of substantial economic development in Northwest Indiana.

“The primary goal for the project is to create a business environment for companies to grow and thrive while adding employment opportunities for the residents of Northwest Indiana,” said Michael O’Connor, Vice President of Development and Leasing for Holladay Properties.

AmeriPlex at the Crossroads offers water, sewer, telephone, and internet access to businesses so they can avoid expensive charges and lengthy amounts of time to reach utilities located a distance from their planned facility. Additionally, the park is only a short distance from an entrance to I-65 and Broadway both north and south, providing easy access to Chicagoland and other surrounding areas.

“The biggest advantage of the park for companies looking to relocate in this area is that it is shovel-ready,” said Larry Mudd, Senior Vice President of Development for Holladay Properties. “Permits are easy to obtain and the entire infrastructure is in place. Businesses who move here are ready to go in a short amount of time.”

The park is a key component of job creation in Northwest Indiana. In addition to the local workers, people commute daily into Indiana from Illinois and Michigan for work in the park, helping bring in revenue to local restaurants and businesses.

“With the lower taxes Indiana charges companies compared to states like Illinois, the park is uniquely located to support companies that want to locate here and still maintain their Chicago customer base,” said Bill Barnes, Operations and Entrepreneurial Manager for the Purdue Research Park of Northwest Indiana, located within AmeriPlex. “This brings a great incentive for their Illinois employees to move to Northwest Indiana and buy property. The benefit is it will raise our real estate values and support our local businesses while offering communities in Northwest Indiana additional tax revenues. It is a real win-win-win for the Region.”

AmeriPlex at the Crossroads currently has sites available from one to 75 acres for sale or development.

The park is surrounded by convenient support services including a convention center, hotels, child care facilities, shopping, restaurants, and financial institutions.

“The work we do at AmeriPlex at the Crossroads represents the work we do for the community: quality economic development,” said Patrick Reardon, Town Manager for the Town of Merrillville. “Everyone involved in this park and its projects works together through the ups-and-downs and cooperates to meet our goals, making a lasting impact for our community.”
