Dogs of all shapes, sizes, and breeds and their owners gathered downtown on Saturday, July 20th, in support of Lakeshore PAWS and their 3rd annual Pup Crawl.
Lakeshore PAWS is a non-profit, volunteer-run animal rescue organization, helping animals find loving homes. The dog walk helped to raise funds for the housing, food, and veterinarian care of the rescue animals at Lakeshore PAWS. Funds raised are also going a new facility that Lakeshore PAWS is hoping to move to in the near future.
Jeanne Sommer, Executive Director of Lakeshore PAWS, said, "Most importantly, this walk is about saving lives. It feels good knowing we are helping to save lives right now."
The dog walk started at the Central Park Plaza downtown. The pets and their owners made stops at various places like Blackbird, Lifestyles and the fire department, where the dogs got various treats and a few minutes to play in small kiddie pools of water.
Along with registering for the pup crawl, owners received a free Lakeshore PAWS t-shirt, light-up leash and an adoption magnet. After the walk, pets and their owners enjoyed local food vendors, mingling with other dogs and their owners, and live entertainment by the Crawpuppies.
The Pup Crawl was a fun family event for all animal lovers and helped raise awareness of the importance of adopting a pet.
