A Purdue Federal Credit Union Employee Spotlight: Kristine Clark

Kristine Clark, Mortgage Loan Specialist at Purdue Federal Credit Union of Crown Point, had just stepped into her dream role about a month ago, but her path first crossed with the credit union five years prior while doing business at her previous job.

“The way they interacted with me—they were so welcoming and efficient. Five years later, when I noticed there was a new Purdue Federal branch opening near my home, I couldn’t help but be drawn to them due to our interaction years before,” said Clark.

This kind of impact is what Purdue Federal Credit Union staff strive to leave on anyone they encounter.

“I give huge kudos to everyone who works at Purdue Federal. It speaks volumes that their day-to-day interactions make such an impression, and our interaction has stuck with me over the years.”

And it seems as though Clark made her mark on Purdue Federal Credit Union as well, as they remembered her when she submitted her application.

Clark describes the mortgage field to be fast-paced and ever-changing, but she couldn’t see herself elsewhere.

“Most of the time, I’m helping people with what is most often the biggest purchase of their lives. To be a part of that and to make them feel comfortable and confident is so rewarding,” said Clark.

Working alongside members is Clark’s favorite part of the job.

“I’ve worked with first-time home buyers, people building homes, and everywhere in between. Every time, it’s amazing to sit with them, talk it out, watch them set and achieve goals, and know that I had a little something to do with that,” said Clark.

Clark prides herself on being active with the Northwest Indiana Mortgage Bankers Association to stay up-to-date on the ever-changing field. She spends most of her time throughout the day working with realtors and focusing on building relationships with her members.

“Being in constant communication with my members is very important. I also like to stay in touch after closing, whether it’s simply touching base, sending a postcard, email, or anything else that will let them know I’m still here and available to help.”

Although new to the credit union, Clark says she has felt an overwhelming amount of acceptance from her co-workers.

“I have never felt so welcomed and part of the family so quickly, and I’m quite blown away. I truly believe that I have everyone’s full support in building the business here in Crown Point and Northwest Indiana,” said Clark.

Looking forward, Clark hopes to make community members in Northwest Indiana aware that Purdue Federal is a top-notch organization.

“Purdue Federal Credit Union’s values align with mine, and I hope to always emulate them,” said Clark. “If you’re great to people, they tend to be great back. This has always been my goal, and I know it’s the company’s as well.”

In her free time, Clark adds another thing to her resume:

“I am a full-time Uber for my children,” Clark laughed. “My husband and I enjoy being active with them and supporting them in everything they pursue.”

Clark’s family enjoys raising and showing hogs for 4-H at the Lake County Fair. They are also home to chickens, a cat, and a dog.

All in all, Clark is happy right where she is.

“Everyone at Purdue Federal is genuine and amazing. It was a rare find for me, and I’m completely beside myself with happiness to be in this role,” said Clark. “I 100% feel like I’ve found my place at Purdue Federal Credit Union.”
