A Northwest Indiana Life in the Spotlight: Christine Morrow

A Northwest Indiana Life in the Spotlight: Christine Morrow

Not everybody knows what they want to be when they grow up, and that uncertainty can lead some people to study each opportunity. Christine Morrow wasn’t much of a people person when she was young, but her career path would change that narrative.

Morrow graduated top of her class and furthered her education at Purdue University and Ivy Tech Community College.

Morrow has more than a dozen years of experience working in different positions across various casinos. Today, she serves as the advertising manager for Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana. Since joining the company, she’s been a part of several exciting opportunities.

“I’ve been at the property since well before the opening,” Morrow said. “Every day has been exciting and different. From helping with huge concerts, organizing television shoots, and negotiating contracts, there’s always something new. I get to continuously learn more which is a goal I’m always striving to reach.”

Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana spotlights a major gaming experience with plenty of food and live entertainment in the Chicagoland area.

Most of Morrow’s peers would consider her to be the one to fix situations within the organization. Whenever someone needs help or has a question, she’s often the first call.

There was a time when Morrow couldn’t have imagined being in this position. In fact, she had a desire to be in a chemistry lab for the longest time. Working with compounds was always a strong passion for Morrow, but she has forged a triumphant path in advertising.

“I think, as we age, our mindsets start to change,” Morrow said. “I’ve always been creative, so while this has been a career path I never would have imagined myself in, it has been extremely rewarding.”

Outside of her work at the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana, Morrow volunteers on the Humane Indiana Gala & Paws in the Park Committee.

While Morrow did not grow up with the vision of this career, she has learned a lot about the advertising industry. She encourages others who want to follow in her footsteps to learn as much as they can.

“This industry is an ever-changing beast, and it’s best to stay up to date with all the growing channels,” Morrow said. “It’s okay to start at a company where you aren’t in a role that you want to end up in. I’ve learned that getting your foot in the door and showing people your talent and drive makes a bigger difference than what is on your resume.”

Morrow also loves to see everybody express their authentic selves.

“I have bright hair, piercings, and a lot of tattoos,” Morrow said. “I know that I don’t look like the typical advertising manager. That doesn’t stop me from being successful at what I do in a business environment, and I always work hard for my team.”

Over the next few years, Morrow hopes to continue making a positive impact on the community with Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana. One goal that she would like to accomplish down the line is serving as the director of a marketing or creative team for a company.
