A Man to Meet: Dr. Bill of Vale Park Animal Hospital

Dr-BillVale Park has many talented people under its employ. They handle all of our pets with care and each has a specialty that sets him or her apart from the others. Dr. Bill Donohue is one of the amazing doctors who makes the Vale Park name stand out.

Dr. Bill, as many call him, was born and raised in Crown Point, IN. He attended Crown Point High school and when he was 16 he got a summer job working at a local animal clinic. He decided that he really enjoyed the field and went on to Purdue Calumet and after graduating in 2001 he attended Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated from there in 2006.

“I came to Vale Park through an externship when I was still in school,” Dr. Bill said. “They asked me to come back and work for them and I’ve been here ever since.”

Dr. Bill has a special interest in oncology and preventative medicine, dermatology, human-to-animal bond, and wellness. Patients with these needs are often sent his way. A typical day for Dr. Bill involves checking on patients, checking on lab reports and lab values, and taking appointments. He will see animals in all stages from new puppies and kittens, to animals with injuries, to elderly animals with cancer.

Trivia: Dr. Bill is sometimes called the “Cat Whisperer” because he is able to handle cantankerous cats who come in for appointments.

“I love working here. It’s a great team environment here, and we provide high quality medical care,” Dr. Bill said. “We have completely awesome clientele and patients and I enjoy going to work every day.”

In 2010, Dr. Bill married his wife, Cyndi, who is also a veterinarian. The have three children, Nora, Lainey, and the brand new Liam “William” who was welcomed into the world on January 2, 2016.
