A Levin Tire & Service Centers Employee Spotlight: Mike Barnett

If you’ve visited Levin Tire & Service Centers’ (LTSC) Crown Point location in the last eight months, you’ve probably had the pleasure of working with the branch’s new Assistant Manager, Mike Barnett.

After serving in the Gulf War, Barnett spent most of his career looking out for his customers’ best interests in the finance and insurance industries. At a pivotal point in his professional life, Barnett was on the search for the next step in his career when someone close to Barnett told him about a new opportunity.

“A friend of mine works at Levin’s Highland branch, and he was the one who told me about the company,” Barnett said. “He told me about how great they are to work for. He was right. After working for them for close to a year now, it seems to be a company of integrity, which is huge for me.”

Throughout Barnett’s career, he’s always put the customer and their experience first, which is why joining Levin’s team was the right move for him.

“They aren’t out for the bottom line—they’re looking out for the customer’s welfare, which is something I value,” Barnett said. “I think, in the long run, a company will grow larger just by word of mouth and faith. Right now, more growth is down the road because the customer is going to come back because we’re telling the truth.”

When Barnett isn’t working with customers or helping maintain the day-to-day work at the shop, you can find him spending time with his family. Barnett has always played an active role in his children’s lives. From helping with Boy Scouts and coaching baseball teams, Barnett is a family man through and through.

“I’m a father that thinks it’s more important to be there for the family than it is to be a provider,” Barnett said. “There’s nothing wrong with being a provider—I try to do both, which is hard to balance but it’s what I wanted to do and what I want to continue to do. I want to stay in their lives as long as I can.”

Barnett grew up valuing the concept of family first.

“My parents were very involved in my upbringing,” Barnett said. “I was in band, football, and a bunch of extra-curricular activities. My mom and dad were always there . My dad was my baseball coach and my youth group leader, so it was instilled in me that that’s what family is supposed to do.”
