Giving patients the best possible care they can is what makes Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, P.C. the best in the Region for orthopedic care. The staff at Great Lakes Orthopedic & Sports Medicine all have one thing in common: they love providing the best care for their patients.
“I’ve been here for 11 years, and I love that you never know what’s going to happen every day,” Medical Assistant Brenda Erickson said. “There’s always some kind of chaos going on and no day is like the other.”
Over the course of the past year, Erickson, along with the rest of the staff at Great Lakes Orthopedics had to balance the ever-changing restrictions brought on by COVID-19, along with rescheduling countless surgeries.
“Just working side-by-side with the doctors and interacting with the patients has made this year worth it,” Erickson said. “We had to reschedule a lot of surgeries once COVID-19 started, but once that chaos passed, just being with my coworkers and working together on whatever we needed to get done made all the struggles worth it.”
Lori Magdziak, who works in the billing department at Great Lakes Orthopedics, recalled her start at the company nearly 12 years ago.
“I always wanted to get into the field of orthopedics,” Magdziak said. “I seized the opportunity and started out at the front desk as a receptionist. Over the years, getting to build those relationships with Dr. Pitchford and the patients was a blessing for sure. Not many people get to see the amount of wonderful people that we do. Dr. Pitchford is amazing with his patients. You can ask him a question about any patient he’s seen in the past 10 years and he'll be able to tell you exactly who it was and what he did for them. It’s truly amazing.”
The staff at Great Lakes Orthopedics has cultivated a culture of providing the best and friendliest orthopedic care in the area. Their doctors are some of the best in the business, and their patient-first approach to healthcare has made them a favorite among many residents. Janice Janowicz, who has worked for Great Lakes Orthopedics for nearly 10 years, noticed a trend in how the doctors at Great Lakes Orthopedics treat their patients and staff.
“I started here working for Physician Assistant Tim Williams, and then transitioned to working for Dr. Pitchford,” Janowicz said. “The thing that really keeps me going is how they care about the welfare of everyone they see. They’re all very genuine and human individuals, which is something I appreciate and cherish about working here.”
Michelle Jakich, who has been with the company for five years, also appreciates the learning opportunities that come along the journey.
"Dr. Pitchford loves to teach us new things and he never makes you feel dumb. He will continue to guide you and that is how we like our patients to feel."
