A Christmas Story comes home

Visitors are invited to relive their own childhood memories of Santa and that long-sought-after Christmas present while strolling through the annual exhibit, A Christmas Story Comes Home. The exhibit will open on November 9 and close December 31, 2019. Special events, contests, photos with Santa and other activities will take place throughout the exhibit.

Depicting infamous scenes from the holiday movie A Christmas Story, the exhibit features six animated displays, including Higbee’s Department Store, Flick’s Tongue and the Triple Dog Dare, It’s a Major Award, Santa’s Mountain at Higbee’s, The Bumpus Hounds and A Hero’s Dream.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see a bronzed Flick with his tongue stuck to the flag pole, providing a perfect photo opportunity of the classic scene in front of the Indiana Welcome Center.

The Indiana Welcome Center is located at the intersection of I-80/94 and Kennedy Avenue South in Hammond; only 30 minutes from downtown Chicago and two hours north of Indianapolis.
