“You have to love what you do. If I’m not happy with what I’m doing, I’m the only one that can change that.”
Deanna Lindlow, Senior Financial Client Associate at Benjamin F. Edwards & Co. in Chesterton has lived by this philosophy throughout her many years in finance.
“I’ve been in this industry for about 15 years now,” Lindlow said. “A lot of times you end up spending as much time at work as you do at home, sometimes more so, and when that’s the case, you’ve got to enjoy what you do.”
Initially drawn to the financial world by simple curiosity, Lindlow’s enthusiasm for the industry in all its aspects now thrives at Benjamin F. Edwards and Co.
“When I say I work at a brokerage firm, most people immediately ask, ‘What’s that?’” Lindlow said. “When you delve into what really goes into investing and all that we do, it’s pretty interesting, but so many people don’t have a clue of what goes on behind the scenes.”
For Lindlow, one of the most rewarding aspects of the job comes from the people she interacts with and the relationships that develop and grow through years of service.
“When it comes down to it, my job is really engaging with clients and customer service,” Lindlow said. “I enjoy helping people, and hopefully I can make their day better with whatever they need. It’s all about helping people make those important financial decisions. If I can play a part in making their day easier by getting that crossed off their list, then that’s awesome.”
Achieving this level of client success and satisfaction stems from a strong company culture built on team members dedicated not just to their clients, but to each other. Lindlow embraces this tight-knit, family-oriented atmosphere daily and knows she can rely on any one of her coworkers for assistance.
“We have about eight people in our office total, and we always say we’re just like family,” Lindlow said. “I know every member of my work family has got my back, and I have theirs. We have a lot of fun together every day.”
Lindlow draws inspiration from the advisors in the office, each of them serving as a role model and a positive influence on her own financial career.
“I look up to all of our advisors here because they have a wealth of knowledge and research on the ins and outs of markets,” Lindlow said. “They do what they do so well, and it’s great to be a part of that.”
