7th Graders Learn Life Saving Techniques at St. Mary’s School in Crown Point

On Tuesday, September 26th the 7A 7th grade class St. Mary Catholic School learned CPR AED & the Heimlich maneuver. The class was led by Firefighters/Paramedics Matt Kodicek & Josh McBurney. Duty crew assistants were Captain Gary Huys, Firefighters/Paramedics Bryan Bodamer, Kevin Radtke, Chris Kraft, Firefighters Irene Bradley & Allison Semethy & EMT Jaclyn Seberser. On Wednesday September 27th the other 7th grade class, 7B, learned CPR AED & the Heimlich maneuver. The class was led by Firefighters/Paramedics Matt Kodicek & Bryan Bodamer.

Teachers Mr. Davis & Mrs. McLoughin helped supervise the classes. According to the instructors, the children did a nice job and have learned a very important skill. St. Mary’s feels very blessed to have this experience at the school. All school and rectory staff, lunch personnel, as well as 7th & 8th grade students are certified in CPR/AED and the Heimlich maneuver.
