6th Annual Lakeshore Paws Pup Crawl Brings Families and Entertainment to Downtown Valparaiso

One of the region’s largest canine friendly events took place this past Saturday, Lakeshore Paws 6 th annual Pup Crawl fundraising event. And it was a pup paradise! So many new scents, new friends, plastic pools of water for puppy playtime and cool downs, a puppy photo booth, and a parade to show off downtown!

This free family fun event hosted plenty of food options, drinks and vendors for the humans as well. There was a great variety of vendors for both pup and human. For the canine crowd, there were booths offering the latest pup fashion, like Cali’s Canine Couture, booths with tasty treats and free samples, and booths offering training for those that need a little refining.

The newest trainer in the area had a booth for the first time at the crawl, Pepedogs Illiana. The day of the crawl was also their opening day in Chesterton. Dennis Herdon, the owner (along with his wife, Marian) said of the program “We are actually more into relationship building with your dog than dog training. We do basic obedience training, but before we start that we have a two-week indirect program, we put you and your dog on, that helps you start building a better relationship with our dog, as far as being the leader of the pack.”

For their human family, there were booths offering beauty products, candles, and food product parties. Also on hand was Independent Cat Society (another non-profit rescue group) and plenty of booths fundraising for Lakeshore Paws rescue.

Ranging from a pup photo booth with props, to kids games, to a chance to win a photo of your furry family member on the side of their rescue van for a whole year!

This wonderful FREE event was organized by Molly Judd, who established the volunteer-run, nonprofit organization with Jeanne Sommer. Many thanks from dogs and dog lover as well to these wonderful women for their efforts in finding forever homes for our homeless pups.
