45-Day Comment Period and Public Meeting on Proposed Public Participation Plan

nirpcThe Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) is conducting a 45-day comment and review period and will hold one public meeting on the draft 2014 Public Participation Plan. The comment and review period will run from Monday, September 15, 2014 to Wednesday, October 31, 2014.

The public meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the downtown branch of the Hammond Public Library, 654 State Street, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

The draft Public Participation Plan spells out NIRPC's policies and procedures for implementing the federal Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) participation requirements. The federal regulations may be found in the appendix of the draft Plan. The draft Plan may be viewed on the NIRPC website at www.nirpc.org.

The proposed Plan and public comment review report will be presented to the Transportation Policy Committee at their November 11 meeting at 9 a.m. at NIRPC. If approved it will be submitted to the NIRPC Executive Board for final approval on December 4 at 9 a.m. at NIRPC.

NIRPC is the Metropolitan Planning Organization and regional council of local governments for the three counties of Northwest Indiana. NIRPC provides the forum for local elected officials, regional, leadership, and citizens to address regional issues relating to transportation, the environment and community and economic development. NIRPC seeks to develop consensus solutions with the broadest participation.
