Chesterton High School Lacrosse Club opened their 2016 season this weekend with one win and one loss.
Chesterton dominated the first game against Carmel’s University High School with a 14-3 win. Dane Stanley led the way with three goals and three assists followed by Blake Ellenwood with three goals, Zak Smith and Mason Witt each with two goals and one assist, Trey Beeler, Sam Westergren and Max Martin with one goal each and Jack Masten and Kevin Fulk each with one assist.
Goalie Kyle Bucy shut down University with five saves and goalie AJ Bauer rounded it out with two more.
Scooping ground balls are a key to controlling possession and Chesterton dominated with 47 to University’s 32.
Dane Stanley led the way with nine, followed by Andrew Mays, Sam Westergren, and Max Martin with five each and
Nolan Walton, Jack Masten, Sam Stricker and Trey Beeler with four each.
Chesterton lost the second game to Lawrence North 6-15. Blake Ellenwood and Mason Witt scored two goals and had 2 assists. Sam Westergren and Trey Beeler each had one goal and one assist and Seppe Ricciardi had 2 assists.
