Li'Yonna McCallum's goal is to become a world-renowned news anchor. Once you meet this young lady, you can easily see that she has chosen a field that fits her personality.
Ms. McCallum, a senior at Emerson School of Visual and Performing Arts, recently participated in the Urban League Scholastic Luncheon where she received four scholarships ranging in value from $500.00 to $1,000.00. She also received the 4-year tuition award from the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship, one of six in the state, and the only Gary student. The Lilly scholarship will cover her tuition. The Urban League scholarships she received were the Eloise Gentry Scholarship, the Dr. Bernard C. Watson Scholarship, the Gary Frontiers Service Club Scholarship and the Horizon Bank Scholarship. Li'Yonna also received scholarships from other service organizations.
