All Region Honor Band:
Chesterton Middle School had four students selected as representatives at the 2015 Indiana Bandmasters Association All-Region Honor Band recently. Those students are, left to right, Nick Hanson, Maddie Figg, Carly Sparacio, and Grace Whah. All-Region Honor Band was hosted at Portage High School and included approximately 100 seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students representing 25 area schools. The ensemble was directed by retired band directors Keith Rudolph (Penn High School) and Donald Litherland (Elkhart Memorial High School). During the weekend event, the students spent one day in rehearsal and the following day, the students participated in a dress rehearsal followed by a concert performance for the public. The CMS band director is Vince Arizzi.
All Region Orchestra:
Several Chesterton Middle School orchestra students were selected to participate in All Region Orchestra recently. Left to right, eighth grade students, Joe Adcock, Maris Robinson, Charlie Skube and Ben Hoham and seventh graders Emma Ghoreishi, Jackson Fleming, Kate Nevers and Katie Hansen. Seventh grade students played in the Allegro Orchestra under the direction of Cindy Schnabel, retired orchestra teacher from Portage, IN, and eighth graders played in the Vivace Orchestra under the direction of Susan Ellington, retired orchestra teacher from Goshen, IN. Students rehearsed during the day on Saturday and then performed that afternoon for the public in the Chesterton High School Auditorium. The CMS orchestra director is Tom Schnabel.
