2014 Chesterton High School Homecoming Candidates Chosen

2014-Homecoming-candidatesTen candidates have been chosen as the 2014 CHS Football homecoming royalty contestants. One senior and four juniors were nominated for homecoming queen and three seniors and two juniors for king.

The five students nominated for queen are senior Natalie Iatarola, and juniors Jordan Kearby, Paige Nielsen, Vanesa Quiroga and Taylor Rodriguez.

Iatarola, daughter of Ralph and Nancy Iatarola of Porter, is active in orchestra and theater.

Kearby, daughter of Sandra Rhodes of Chesterton, is active in gymnastics and track.

Nielsen, daughter of Jen and Jeff Nielsen of Chesterton, is active in cross country.

Quiroga, daughter of Jesus and Elsie Quiroga of Porter, is a member of student council, Spanish club and Interact club. She is active in track and has represented Chesterton in the Miss Teen Indiana Latina pageant and has participated in Rebuilding Duneland.

Rodriguez, daughter of Tony Rodriguez, an Ken and Christine Pazdur of Valparaiso, is a member of student council and is the president for the class of 2016. She is active on the gymnastics team and track team and is a coach of gymnastics outside of school. In 2014 she attended the HOBY Leadership Conference in Indianapolis.

The five students nominated for king are seniors James Jewison, Ben Lewis and Joey Petrovich; and juniors Noah Brickley and Fred Owens.

Jewison, son of Tom and Mary Jewison of Chesterton, is a member of the CHS Boys Tennis and Debate.

Lewis, son of Evan and Katrina Lewis of Chesterton, is active in Natural Helpers and Japanese club and enjoys intramural basketball. He has also participated in Rebuilding Duneland and works as a student aide and is a peer tutor.

Petrovich, son of Joe and Kathy Petrovich of Porter, is active on the Varsity Swim Team and is a member of Natural Helpers. He also is an Eagle Scout and volunteers for the Special Olympics.

Brickley, son of Lisa Brickley of Valparaiso, is active in soccer and travelling soccer. He enjoys skiing.

Owens, son of Fred and Laura Owens of Chesterton, is active in the Trojan Guard Marching Band, Debate and is a member of the German club. He enjoys intramural basketball and playing music when he has free time.

The CHS homecoming king/queen will be chosen on Friday, Sept. 26 at halftime at the homecoming football game against Portage. The parade will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26 from the Chesterton Middle School Pool parking lot, Porter Ave to Calumet, Calumet to Broadway, Broadway to Sixth and back to CMS.
