Staff spotlight:

Adrienne Smith has done an outstanding job as a teacher at EC Central. She is a helpful and fun teacher. She was an undergrad at Indiana State University and obtained her master’s at Purdue University.

Smith teaches Ceramics, Intro to 2D Art, and Advanced Intro 2D Art. She started teaching at EC Central straight out of college. She has been teaching for 28 years.

Smith decided to become a teacher because she loves art, her high school art classes, and her high school art teachers. Smith thought it would be a rewarding career that she would enjoy for a long time.

“I love teaching at East Chicago Central," she said. "I love the students here. I think we have some of the kindest, most genuine, down-to-earth kids at our school. I can't imagine being anywhere else. My students keep me laughing everyday.”

Student spotlight:

Julius Murillo is an amazing student. His favorite subject is math. He is currently taking AP Calculus, and he finds it to be a very enjoyable class to take.

In his free time, Murillo likes to play tennis, workout at the weight room, play video games, bowl, and watch shows.

Murillo plans to attend Ball State University where he will be studying mathematics.

He is either thinking of becoming an actuary, engineer, or architect because it involves math, which is his strong suit, and he enjoys constructing things.

“EC Central has some really nice teachers. In all the years I have been here, my teachers have been really enjoyable," he said.
