On September 30, the choir department held their annual coffee night. Anyone could audition, they did not have to be in choir to perform and it wasn’t just singing. There was even a comedic act and a whole band that performed. Some of the choir students baked and sold desserts and coffee while others sold tickets. The hosts were choir students, sophomore Skylar Davenport and junior Zach Keil.

“At first, I was nervous to do it, but when I got up there, everyone was really supportive. I sang Riptide by Vance Joy which is a song that I really enjoy and it puts me in a good mood listening to it. I am glad that I got to sing in front of my friends and family and help our choir raise money,” said sophomore Kylie Maloney.

There was a total of 14 performances that all showed off their amazing talents. It was a great turn out and they raised plenty of money to help fund future field trips.

This year, the swim team is under new head coaching, Theresa McLoughlin. McLoughlin was the assistant coach last year but has taken over for the head coaching position. There is also a new assistant coach and diving coach. New coaching means new drills, workouts, and different coaching techniques. This year, there is even a middle school team that can practice with the high schoolers and will have a short competition season after the high school season.

“I am looking forward to the season and getting to meet all of the new swimmers coming in this season. I think this season we will do better and be a lot faster than last year. Also, it’s going to be exciting to have the middle schoolers in the water as well because we get to see and mentor our future team,” said sophomore Matthew Thomas

The team has also been getting a head start in fundraising. The team recently sold perigees and raised around $2,000. The team is already planning future fundraising events to get new equipment for the team.
