With all of his incredible talent, Chris still remembers to take the importance of education along every pathway he takes.

“Education is the key to knowledge but dedication is the key to success. If you put the 2 together, it will take you a long way.”

Ms. Dixon’s Roaring Economy

Ms. Dixon the 12th grade economics teacher has painted her 900 square foot class room into an arena of a society with a small economy all in good benefit of the students learning Economics. This proclaimed little society teaches students the nuances and ambiguities of life in the real world.

Ms. Dixon says “I got the idea from an online teaching source. I was looking for a project based learning activity. I saw this and it covered almost every academic standard for economics.” she continues “This activity covers standards on financial literacy and banking. It requires students to think at a higher level and encouraging more rigors because they are constantly applying evaluation, analyzing, and understanding.”

In Ms. Dixons class each student is a citizen of the prestigious Economania. Each student in class has a stimulated job and is paid by attendance and job performance. With this stimulated job students are paid idealistic money that is used to pay desk rental and other fees stimulating a real world experience.

“It’s really fun to learn about the economy in such a hands on way. I’m a part of an economy, and I now understand how a bank account and things of that nature work.” Nataija Johnson

Ms. Dixons economania encourages students to excel in all life skills.

“Its real world learning. It incorporates more than one discipline its math, its English, its economics, its accounting, its business, its government, its life skills and work skills, and its career readiness.” Ms. Dixon enthusiastically states.

The Wirt-Emerson Modeling Troupe

The Wirt-Emerson modeling troupe click clacks their heels through the red and gold stained hallways of Emerson making each hall a runway. They exhale ferocity in every breath they take, encouraging every student to pursue their inner runway gods and goddesses. This year, the troupe has some bold plans to showcase the glistening individuality of our school. With Ms. Jane Srnick as a sponsor they’ve already started the year blazing in with auditions and a showcase to expose the community of the talent and beauty of the students at our school.

Corrion Davis an officer of the modeling troupe says “We plan on incorporating several new modeling techniques this year such as Walks, poses and etc. And, we have new more energetic choreography, “says Davis. “We accepted 16 new models this year at our auditions last week, and we will be performing in this year’s Fall Revue. We are very excited for that opportunity.”

To top off this already blazing path began by the fierce ones of Wirt; they are planning two modeling shows to take place this school year. Corrion says “There will be two shows this year. A fall and winter show and a spring and summer show.”

Teacher of the Month

Mrs. Gloria Williams is the 11th and 12th grade math teacher, teaching the subjects pre-calculus and calculus. She expresses the simplicity in complex logarithms and functions, encouraging every student to do the best of their ability no matter what. She creates a new world of calculus in its extreme complicated reality to be almost as easy as 1+1.

Each lesson taught by Mrs. Williams becomes encrypted into your mind like computer software.

Maria Hardy says, "If there's ever a time when I don't understand something I just ask Mrs. Williams and she’ll help me. It usually takes me two seconds after getting help from her to understand."

Mrs. Williams is professed by every student to always have a smile curving at the brim of her mouth no matter the occasion. Her personality with open arms wraps around every student who steps into her class inviting them to learn.

Imani Manifield says "Her inviting personality allows you to not only be able to call on her for classroom needs but also for educational needs outside of class".

She carries passion in every lesson she teaches and every little bit of wisdom she expounds on. With everything she does she embodies the very definition of being a teacher and beyond.
