#1StudentNWI: Glamour and Glitz at South Central High School

South-Central-1StudentNWI-May-1Old-School Hollywood:
Popcorn, red carpets, and sparkly gowns: these things were just a fraction of the beautiful setup of South Central’s Prom. The Junior Class took on the task of creating a memorable night for themselves and the graduating class. With the perfect theme in mind and hundreds of beautiful decorations, they turned the La Porte Civic into a vintage scene of beauty.

A large cut out of letters that spelled “Hollywood” sat on the stage in front of the awesome DJ. A seven-foot tall popcorn box sat between entrances filled with white and yellow balloons as well as lights. The red carpet ran down the center of the room and provided the route for the Grand March to follow. The tables for each student and faculty member was absolutely beautiful. Each table had red and black tablecloths to go with the event’s color theme. The centerpiece was a clear vase with water beads on the inside and feathers to top it off. Movie clapboards, nametags that looked like the walk of fame stars, and rose petals finished off each table for the amazing movie atmosphere.

South-Central-1StudentNWI-May-2Each person who attended the coveted event left with a “swag bag”. These bags were full of little presents for each person, including light-up “SC Prom” cups.

The night was full of dancing, laughing, and photos in the awesome photo booth. Awards were given to people for various awards. Luke Pacione and Riley Wilson won the cutest couple, Blake Werner and Caroline Prott won most Hollywood, Max Clemons and Anna Miller won best dressed, Eddie Castle and Madison Wolff won best dancers, and Charles Crawford and Lany Hagey won the best hair. The royalty was also crowned at the start of the night. Prince and Princess went to Max Sims and Mikayla Rosenbaum while King and Queen went to Noah Eaton and Megan Hanchar. It’s safe to say that everyone had an amazing night at prom! Way to go Juniors!

South-Central-1StudentNWI-May-3Jessica Gilmore:
Jessica Gilmore. The poofy haired ball of energy we all know and love. Jessica is a catcher on the South Central Varsity Softball team. She’s been playing softball since before she even knew the rules. Jess’s energy and love for the game are just a fraction of why she’s a wonderful asset to the team. Her favorite thing about softball, though, would have to be that each and every girl on the team is like a family. The group of girls is so close and loves spending time with one another. The softball team is as successful as they were last year, showing everyone how powerful girls can be. While Jess isn’t playing softball, she spends her time taking care of her goats, cats, dogs, tortoises, bearded dragon, birds, and horses. She also plays volleyball, gets called a lion, and waits around for fair with all of her friends. Jessica’s eventual goal is to go to college, preferably Purdue. If you want to see Jessica and the rest of the varsity girls in action, come out to SC and watch!

South-Central-1StudentNWI-May-4Mr. Anderson:
Even though he’s not with us anymore, Mr. Anderson is still every high schooler’s favorite faculty member! The now elementary principal has been there for every single sporting event, helping the fan block cheer on each and every athlete. Mr. Anderson supports everyone at South Central no matter what the age. Have a big game coming up? Mr. Anderson will be there to cheer you on! Are you a lead in the school play? He’ll be there to tell you good job afterward! His caring abilities and love for his job make him the perfect man for his job. Mr. Anderson is an amazing man doing amazing things for South Central. We love you Anderson!
