#1StudentNWI: Brickies Get Ready at Hobart High School

New Book on Hobart Football Program

Recently, a book was written and published about the entire Hobart football program. Its name is The History of Hobart Football, written by Paul Condry. It contains all of the ups and downs of the program, pictures of the teams, stats of the players, and much more. It talks about seasons up until the 2014 team. It’s for all of the diehard Hobart fans and, of course, for all of the individuals who enjoy reliving their past at Hobart High School. It’s being sold for $35 online at hobartbrickiefootball.com, and remember, “Once a Brickie, always a Brickie!”

Mud Volleyball Tournament

August 1st and 2nd, Hobart’s annual mud volleyball tournament was held at Rugby Field. This event is looked forward to by each individual that participates. They recommend for other people to attend. What made it so fun was that they were not really going against super competitive teams. Everyone who participated had a blast and was constantly laughing. The only downside was driving because some mud pits were a little rocky at the bottom and knees were getting cut. Talking to one of the participants, a senior at Hobart High School, Maddy Adams, said that it was definitely worth it. She said, “I already plan on doing it next year.”

National Night Out

On August 4th, the football team at Hobart held a town outing that allows families and friends to come out and support local places like the Police Department, the Fire Department, etc. It was held from 5-9 PM, and it allowed families to take their kids out and feel safe while having a good time and getting to meet the team. The senior football players all get to sign autographs for family, friends, and little kids. It was overall a great time!

Hobart Market

The 2015 Summer Market is right by Lake George every Thursday June 4th- September 3rd. It’s open from 3PM to 8:30PM at Festival Park. There are all kinds of outdoor shopping that includes fresh produce, baked goods, ethnic and gourmet food, children’s craft area, jewelry, handmade crafts, an adult beverage area and much more! Beginning at 7, live entertainment starts at Festival Park’s band shell. Come and check it out!

Hobart Football Soap Game

Saturday, August 8th at 6PM, the football team had their soap game. Fans and students bring soap to get into the game for free. The soap will be the boys’ soap for the rest of their season. The team just scrimmages themselves. It went well, and the boys executed their plays very well. There was a decent amount of people who showed up to the soap game. One of the players stated, “We could have played with a little more enthusiasm and excitement, but overall it was good!” We hope to see the boys achieve great things this football season!

Freshman Mission Possible

Freshman Mission Possible was Wednesday August 5th from 8PM to 1PM. All of the incoming freshmen have to come in for the day and listen to a couple of presentations, tour the school, and get the chance to ask upperclassmen any questions they want to. It’s a helpful experience for these young individuals, and it helps them to be a little bit more prepared for their first year at the high school.

First Day of School

The first day of school is Thursday August 20th. Many students are feeling a mix of emotions about going back to school- nervousness, excitement, some sadness because the summer is over, and some happiness because they get to see all of their friends again. All of them are preparing and going back to school shopping. Seeing who is in what class, where to sit at lunch, and what to wear are some of the things running through everyone’s minds as the day gets closer and closer. Summer may be ending, but a new year is beginning, and at Hobart, we hope to make it a good one!
