Orak Shrine Circus Returns to Hammond
Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and Carden International Circus proudly present the 2016 Orak Shrine Circus at the Hammond Civic Center, 5825 S. Sohl Ave., beginning Thursday, Oct. 6th through Sunday, Oct. 9th. Come and see the elephants, tigers, lions, monkeys, dogs, aerialists, jugglers and much, much more! Four big days … seven big shows!

Saint Paul Catholic School’s 4th Annual Oktoberfest 
Please join us for our 4th annual German-themed event featuring many popular elements (as well as some new additions) to create a fun filled, family event for our community. Oktoberfest annually attracts over 1,200 people from our community and grows bigger each year! Fun features include: live music, hayrides, German dinners & craft brews from Shoreline Brewery with commemorative mugs in the Biergarten, a hot chocolate bar, ice cream, pretzels, and a huge "Gnome Zone" with many inflatables and kids games.

Amphitheater at Founders Square Grand Opening
Every Portage resident is invited to help us celebrate a huge milestone in making our Downtown an ever better venue. The event is free to attend, but food trucks will be available, as well as a cash-only beer garden.

Fall Group Hayrides at Rogers-Lakewood Park
The Valparaiso Parks Department is once again offering hayrides at Rogers-Lakewood Park this fall, with support from Bloomfield Mechanical. The tractor-drawn hayride is great fun for youth groups, family gatherings, clubs, birthday parties and more. The hour and a half outing provides a wonderful setting to enjoy autumn in the woods. A campfire is waiting for riders at the end of the ride.

Lubeznik Center for the Arts: Project Simple
Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) presents Project Simple: Capturing Silent Conversations, an exhibition of photographs by the husband and wife team of Mariano Cortez and Chelsea Nix. The couple's photographs are currently on display in LCA's NIPSCO Education Studio through October 28, 2016 with a reception on October 7 from 5:00 to 8:00pm during LCA's First Friday series. Using the camera as a tool to share individual stories and help indigenous communities in third world countries, the Nix/Cortez team focused their lens on India and Nepal for this series of photographs.

24th Annual Elvis FANtasy Fest
Since 1993, EFF has been a celebration of Elvis's music legacy and remembers his humanitarian ways by supporting a local charity. Join friends and make new ones for an amazing weekend of Elvis music while supporting our athletes. All Net proceeds will be donated to Porter County Special Olympics. Thanks in advance for your support.

All-IN Block Party
La Porte County Bicentennial Committee will host an ALL-IN Block Party on Saturday, October 8, from 12:00 - 4:00pm at Plaza 618 on the corner of Monroe St. and Lincolnway downtown La Porte. This exciting event is designed to encourage the citizens of La Porte to engage with the community and make the state of Indiana even better. ALL-IN Block Parties are designed to bring people together to participate in a series of activities that encourage Hoosiers to learn more about Indiana and imagine ways to make Indiana even better.

Breaking Down the Barriers: Salute to Our Veterans
Join us in saluting our service members with the "Breaking Down the Barriers: Salute to Our Veterans" on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Blue Chip Casino's Stardust Event Center & Parking Lot. All donations and ticket sale proceeds go to support veterans with PTSD.

Wickedly Whiting
The Zombies are coming to downtown Whiting on Saturday, October 8th, 2016! From 11:00am – 11:00p, 119th street will be a fearful festival where you can enjoy: Trapped with a Clown Beer Garden Family Stage Food Vendors Costume Contests Live entertainment Breakfast with a Monster Market of the Living Dead Tomkat Comics Vendor Village Howl at the Moon Contest

Albert’s Diamond Jewelers 13th Annual MS Auction
Albert’s Diamond Jewelers will be holding its 13th Annual MS Auction on Sunday, October 9th, 2016! Unlike many charity and fundraising efforts, 100% of every dollar raised during this event goes directly to MS. Last year was our best year EVER! There were over 600 individuals, local businesses and vendors who joined together to raise over $235,000 to fight this devastating disease. This year we are trying to reach a lifetime goal of $2 million donated to the National MS Society! Donations from our loyal customers and local businesses would help us get one step closer!
