Cal Ripken baseball teams from Indiana, Wisconsin and Kentucky will take to the fields in Crown Point for the 2014 Ohio Valley Regional 12U Majors 60 tournament July 24 through July 27.
According to Chip Pettit, vice president of Crown Point Cal Ripken Youth Baseball, 10 teams will come together to compete for the chance to advance and to play in Florida for the World Series, which was held in Hammond, Ind., in 2013.
The games will be hosted at the Crown Point Cal Ripken baseball fields, located at U.S. 231 and N. West Street in Crown Point. The public is invited to watch the tournament with tickets being sold for a single day or for the entire tournament. Single day tickets cost $8 for adults and $3 for children ages 6 through 15. Tickets to see the entire tournament cost $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 6 through 15. Children under 6 are free.
“We have a great facility and Northwest Indiana and the City of Crown Point have always done a great job with youth sports and hosting these types of events,” said Pettit. “I look forward to a great week of baseball.”
