Calling All Artists for Hooked on Art Festival Chalk Competition

2014-hooked-on-art-fest-chalk-competition-01Frontline Foundations, Inc., a non-profit substance abuse treatment provider, is calling all artists for their Third Annual Chalk Art Competition with the Hooked on Art – Live Street Art Festival. Held on Saturday, September 27, chalk artists will have the chance to compete as a team or individually in Downtown Chesterton for the Best in Show cash prize of $2,000.

The family-friendly Hooked on Art Festival, which recently won the R.O.S.E. Award for Best Festival in Porter County, will be held once again at Thomas Centennial Park from 9:00 - 4:00 p.m. In conjunction with the European Market, Hooked on Art highlights live street art, music, kid’s activities, unique food dishes, and a silent auction of Frontline client artwork.

Artists interested in the Chalk Art Competition may register by downloading an Artist Application at www.HookedonArtFestival.com. Local and regional artists will craft a 4x4 chalk masterpiece throughout the day to be judged based on audience engagement, creativity, quality, and originality. Participants must be 18 or older.

“If before July 31, the price to compete is only $40”, said Derek Frazier, Frontline Development Director. “Competitors will receive not only complimentary chalk art but the potential for a free vendor booth space. And, best of all, proceeds from the Festival will benefit Frontline scholarships for young men and women in need of treatment.”

Frontline is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that specializes in substance abuse treatment and recovery for men and women ages 18-38. For more information on Hooked on Art or questions about becoming an artist, please contact Frontline Development Director Derek Frazier at (219) 728-1638.
