Wheeler High School has named Rylee Kruck as its new athletic director. Kruck, who previously served as the transportation director and athletic director at Westville High School, is looking forward to the new position and the challenges it will bring.
“I’m excited to begin my newest endeavor as the Athletic Director at Wheeler,” she said. “I’ve loved my time at Westville and am incredibly grateful for the opportunity, but my passion lies in athletics. Being able to focus solely on that at Wheeler is something I know will be fulfilling and rewarding.”
As a graduate from La Porte High School and a former high school and collegiate athlete, Kruck has experienced firsthand the impact youth sports can have on students throughout the Region. Being an additional layer of support and encouragement for students and coaches is Kruck’s passion, and Wheeler looks to be the perfect home to nurture it.
“I’ve already felt an overwhelming sense of support from Wheeler’s administration and community, and I’m eager to get started,” Kruck said. “At the same board meeting where I was approved, the administration shared drone footage of the new turf softball and baseball facilities under construction. As a former high school and college softball player and coach, this excites me like no other. It’s evident that this community and corporation invest in athletics, and walking into a school where people truly stand behind their teams, coaches, and athletes is a great feeling.”
Kruck is still getting situated in her green and orange, but she’s eager to step into the role.
“All I’ve ever known is orange and black — I have about 20 pairs of sneakers in those colors! I’ve slowly started adding some green to the mix to rep Wheeler, but it’s definitely taking some getting used to,” Kruck said.
As winter sports come to a close and Wheeler prepares for another spring season, Kruck is excited to create long-lasting memories for herself, her peers, and her athletes.
“Sports provide such a unique opportunity to teach young athletes the life lessons they’ll carry with them long after their playing days are over,” she said. “I’m looking forward to contributing to the success of Wheeler Athletics and working alongside the incredible coaches, athletes, and community to build something special.”Keep up with all of the Bearcats’ athletic endeavors at the official athletics website.
