Northwest Health – La Porte is proud to announce the certification of its cardiovascular rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This certification is recognition of the hospital’s commitment to improving the quality of life of patients by enhancing standards of care.
Cardiovascular rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with cardiac problems (e.g., heart attacks, coronary artery bypass graft surgery) recover faster and live healthier. The program is known for including exercise, education, counseling and support for patients and their families.
To earn accreditation, the cardiovascular rehab program at Northwest Health – La Porte participated in a reporting process that required extensive documentation of the program’s practices. AACVPR Program Certification is the only peer-review accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other related professional societies. Each program’s application is reviewed by the AACVPR Certification Committee.
“Our community is fortunate to have a distinguished cardiovascular rehab program here at Northwest Health – La Porte. Our cardiovascular rehab staff sought out this certification to confirm that they are providing the best care for their patients,” said Simon Ratliff, Chief Executive Officer for the hospital. “We appreciate this feedback and special recognition from the AACVPR.”
In 2018, AACVPR moved to an outcomes-based process with performance measurements that represent more meaningful outcomes. Therefore, AACVPR-certified programs are leaders in the cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation fields because they offer the most advanced practices available and have proven track records of high quality patient care.
The pulmonary rehabilitation program at Northwest Health – La Porte is also certified by the AACVPR. The hospital’s pulmonary rehab program helps people with respiratory symptoms and conditions like COPD.
