James Leonard, DO, FACEP, the Chief Executive Officer for Northwest Health – Porter has appointed Gena DeMuth, MS, BSN, RN, CEN, as the hospital’s Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
With an extensive background in nursing leadership and a passion for patient care, DeMuth brings a wealth of experience to Northwest Health - Porter. As the CNO, she will oversee all nursing operations, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained and that Northwest Health patients receive the utmost attention and support during their healthcare journey.

DeMuth brings nearly 20 years of experience in nursing leadership, having served as interim CNO for Northwest Health – Porter since May of 2023. She joined Northwest Health – Starke in 2014 and has held various positions with increasing responsibility, including director of medical-surgical care at Northwest Health – Porter and director of risk management and infection prevention at Northwest Health – La Porte and Starke. DeMuth also serves on the board of directors for the Valparaiso Parks Foundation.

DeMuth holds a Master of Science in Forensic Nursing from Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, Massachusetts and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. She is also a board-certified emergency nurse.
