Northwest Health – La Porte gave more than 150 area high school students a first-hand look into healthcare opportunities during a two-day interactive educational program.
Getting a true taste of surgical and radiology technology careers, students donned gowns and gloves to experience a wide variety of hands-on clinical tests and procedures.
The high schools that participated in Northwest Health’s healthcare career-connected learning program included La Porte High School, Michigan City High School, New Prairie High School, South Central High School, Westville High School, Tri Township High School and Knox High School.
“For several years, Northwest Health has supported local schools by providing these types of special hands-on career-oriented educational programs,” said Keith Nichols, CEO of Northwest Health – La Porte and Starke. “After learning about healthcare careers, many students will have a new perspective on their career goals, and our hope is that our program will really inspire this next generation to return as healthcare professionals in our community.”
