On Friday, August 19, Legacy Foundation held its 30th Anniversary Celebration at the Dean and Barbara White Community Center. Nearly 300 Northwest Indiana residents gathered to celebrate 30 years of community impact and the retirement of Carolyn Saxton, Legacy Foundation's President & CEO of eight years.
Carolyn passed the baton and announced that Kelly Anoe will become Legacy Foundation's sixth President & CEO. "I'm leaving, but I'm leaving Legacy in very good hands," said Carolyn.
To honor Carolyn's retirement and her contributions to Lake County, Legacy Foundation established the Carolyn Saxton Unrestricted Fund. This fund will support Legacy Foundation's grantmaking in Lake County.
During the event program, Legacy Foundation recognized those who played an important role in the Foundation's last 30 years, including founding board members, Cal Bellamy and Terry Eich; past presidents, Nancy Johnson and Leigh Morris; and past board chairs, Nancy Clifford, Greg Gordon, Robert Johnson, and Martie Rivas-Ramos.
Legacy Foundation also recognized Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana, Crossroads YMCA, Shirley Heinze Land Trust, South Shore Arts, and Urban League of Northwest Indiana for making a commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility.
The 30th Anniversary Celebration was more than just a way to recognize the work Legacy Foundation has accomplished over the years. It was an opportunity for community members, local leaders, and our region's changemakers to make new connections and form partnerships that will continue to help our communities. Legacy Foundation thanks everyone who was in attendance, along with Foundation partners and supporters who were unable to attend. We look forward to future collaborations!
