Thousands Arrive for National Softball Association (NSA) World Series

More than 150 softball teams from across the Midwest will arrive in northwest Indiana to compete in the NSA Girls’ Fast Pitch “B” & “C” Northern World Series. Games will be played throughout the region including Crown Point, Hobart, Highland, Michigan City, LaPorte and Schererville from July 19-24.

More than 2,500 room nights have been secured for this annual tournament bringing in 1.5 million dollars of economic impact. “Our local restaurants and attractions surrounding these fields and hotels are expected to be inundated with traveling softball families from the Midwest,” said David Uran, President/CEO of the South Shore Convention & Visitors Authority (SSCVA). “Northwest Indiana and the SSCVA are honored to be hosting these highly ranked and competitive teams along with their families. Our SSCVA partners along with our all-star staff will be providing a world-class event and experience for the players, coaches, and fans as these teams battle to be crowned the next NSA World Series Champions!”

Skills Competitions, check-in and pin trading will take place at 3 p.m. on July 19 at the Crown Point Sportsplex. Opening ceremony celebrations will take place at 4 p.m. on July 21 at Festival Park in Hobart; parade begins at 5:00 p.m. A complete schedule of events can be found at www.alongthesouthshore.com/nsa.

Additional sporting events this week hosted in the South Shore include: 14U Indiana Babe Ruth State, D1 Nation All American Games, and Illinois YMCA Long Course Championships. These events also generate economic impact in the region from hotel stays, restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores and attractions.
