Music, games, and food! For five days and six nights, Hammond’s Festival of the Lakes provides its visitors with all of the above, promising an entertaining time for the thousands of individuals who attend each day.
The Festival of the Lakes is celebrating its ten-year anniversary, and is doing so in style. On the banks of Wolf Lake, George Lake, and Lake Michigan, the festival combines scenic views with amazing entertainment for all ages. What’s the best part about the festival? There is absolutely no admission fee!
The festival, which runs from Wednesday, July 17 to Sunday, July 21, includes a variety of musical performances, dozens of different food stands, and countless rides and games for the kids. Big-name musical artists highlight the festival, with artists such as Smokey Robinson, Bruce in the USA, Lifehouse, Better Than Ezra, LL Cool J and La Original Banda el Limon performing. For many, the music itself is enough reason to attend the festival.
Regular attendee to the festival Chris did not have to think long when asked why he decided to go to the festival.
“LL Cool J, definitely,” Chris explained. “Where else could you go for free entertainment in Northwest Indiana?”
While the festival has for years been hosting top venue musical guests, many visitors enjoy the festival for other reasons. Hammond resident Wayman was also quick with a response when asked what his favorite part of the festival was. “The food, definitely the food. It’s a nice day out, we enjoy the artist that is coming tonight, and you can’t go wrong with the food.”
Indeed, there is certainly something for everyone at the Festival of the Lakes. Whether it is free concerts by nationally known performers, delicious food of all varieties sold in the Midway, exciting carnival rides and games for people of all ages, or the beautiful views that come with visiting Wolf Lake Memorial Park, the Festival of the Lakes is sure to promise a smile.
