Continuing an annual tradition, Strack & Van Til partnered with a number of local businesses to provide 510 Christmas dinners to Boys & Girls Clubs families over the holidays. Volunteers from MolsonCoors, Aunt Millie’s and Indiana Beverage joined Strack & Van Til at John Will Anderson Boys & Girls Club in Gary to assemble meals to distribute to each of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana’s 10 Clubs. Each family received a ham, potatoes, stuffing, bread, vegetables and a pecan pie.
Strack & Van Til CEO Jeff Strack said while the food giveaway is something employees look forward to each year as a way to give back to the community, the difficulties families faced in 2020 placed an added importance on the event.
“This year has been hard for everyone, and we are lucky to be in a position to give back,” Strack said. “It’s important to give these families some Christmas cheer and a chance to gather around the table with their loved ones to enjoy a delicious dinner.”
Boys & Girls Clubs president & CEO Ryan Smiley said Strack & Van Til has been a critical partner to the organization over the years.
“Jeff Strack, Mike Nisevich and everybody at Strack & Van Til are committed to giving back to the community, and we are grateful for their continued support,” Smiley said. “This is a time of year people really look forward to, and we hope these dinners help Club families end the year with a little hope and optimism.”
Smiley also thanked the volunteers who showed up to lend their hands.
“The support of people in the community is what makes the work we do successful,” Smiley said. “Sometimes that’s financial support. Sometimes it’s people coming into our Clubs and helping make sure Club families get the exciting Christmas dinner they deserve. It all matters so much, and we are really fortunate to have the people at Strack & Van Til, Aunt Millie’s MolsonCoors and Indiana Beverage in our corner.”
